Hi I'm hoping somebody can help in some way, my Husband suffered a stroke on Thursday and is in hospital, I literally had to leave I'm at the door and haven't seen him since, I have spoken to him on the phone but his speech has been badly affected so I cant really understand what he is telling me. I went to the hospital yesterday but they wont let me in. If I ring they just put me through to him. I'm at my wits end with worry my Spanish is minimal and I just dont know how I can get any information does anybody have any suggestions please.

Hi Nickim20,

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband, it must be very distressing for you both.

If you're resident in Spain, you could ask your GP to speak to the hospital on your behalf.

Otherwise, I think your best route may be to contact the charity, Help Vega Baja:

I hope you hear good news soon.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello

So sorry for your stress, it must be so worrying for you. Unfortunately the hospital, like every hospital are working very  hard  to reduce the spread of the corona virus so no visitors are allowed at this time.  If you can phone the ward your husband is on, speak to a nurse or ask for Dr if you have a name. ...Get someone( a translator) maybe or  someone who speaks spanish, they would be able to ask more questions on your behalf, so you could be reassured.

I have had several procedures & an operation at the hospital & find the medical care excellent - they lack a little bit on what Brits call, 'a bedside manner' etc but are nontheless more than efficient in the nursing procedures.

Do try & get some help to make a call to the nursing staff , who hopefully can tell you more

Cheers
