Hi guys.
How do I obtain a SIP card please? I had reason to have to visit the Salud in December/January due to an accident. They had a SIP number which applied to me for their records. But I have never received a SIP card. I own an apartment in Torrevieja but am currently resident in Ireland.
You will not normally receive a SIP card unless you are resident and affiliated to the Spanish state health system.
In the past some saluds have issued temporary SIP cards to non residents holding an EHIC in order to avoid having to re-record their info each time, that may be why you have a number.

Are you resident in Spain, working or self employed? Are you in receipt of State Retirement Pension from the UK?

I currently live in Ireland but plan to move to Spain later this year. I am in receipt of Irish state pension, and a small UK state pension. Does this have a bearing on my eligibility for a SIP card? As stated, I have a SIP number.

Once you're resident and of state pension age you can apply for your S1 from UK/Ireland and register this in Spain. This will give you a permanent SIPP card.
You may have be given a temporary SIPP card when producing a EHIC card as non resident, for emergency treatment but this doesn't entitle you full access to Spanish healthcare.
