Over the last 18 years I have had various pairs of glasses from Specsavers on the CDS and the CB. I have always been very happy with the service and the quality of the products supplied. Recently I have had replacement glasses made by their Successores and I am not exactly over the moon  with any aspect of their services. I initially went to Specsavers all those years ago mainly tempted by the prices and then it was a question of customer satisfaction that followed. Now After going back several times and being seemingly fobbed off with an inferior product,  We have to get some new varifocals for my wife. Obviously with our miserable pension cost is a major concern which we must balance carefully with the quality of the glasses.

We would be very happy to hear of other people's experiences and recomendations.

Have great weekend

Mike

Had some experience with both Specsavers and the successors at the La Zenia branch. Staff cannot be faulted for helpfulness and I don't notice any major change to the products. The prices however have soared since the takeover.

They didn't start off very well (Torrevieja), after nearly 4 weeks I had not been called so I went to the shop, they said they had called a few weeks before.. True, I checked they had called from a mobile No, but I had not got to the phone in the couple of seconds that it rang, but they had not tried again. I tried the glasses and they gave me a headache while reading so they were returned. This was fixed but there were other things which they went away for 20 mins at a time to try and fix. but overal they are not perfect and amongst all this need to be cleaned multiple times in a day. My requests for the free prescription were also ignored. Yes prices have nearly doubled since the last time abot 4 yrs ago.

I was really interested in peoples' experiences in other opticians in the Torrevieja area.

Thanks for your reply.

Mike

I hesitate to interfere, although our experience up here using the reinvented practice has noticed no change, same staff, same service. However, my point is, if you are dissatisfied, there are many, many very competent Spanish optometrists, many of whom speak English. The consultant whom I was seeing years ago in UK always told mee how impressed she was at international conferences with the standards of eye care in Spain. You can always go somewhere else!

Optica Rodreguez in Quesada are brilliant. Speak English and brought all the equipment to the house when my wife was ill at no extra charge. Superb service and less expensive than Specsavers. Even recommended not buying new frames.

You are right of course, However here only one of the original staff is still here, A receptionist.

Anyway I see someone has suggested another optician, nothing tried nothing gained. Will give them a try.

Thanks Pedro,  we will give them a look later in the week,

My wife has some expensive frames which she would be very happy to use again if possible.

Long term user Specsavers Javea, 9 years, 5 purchases.

Were excellent before but my new lenses are not the same quality despite paying for the same high protection and the lenses are very difficult to clean. Smearing regularly.

Will be changing optician for my next purchase.

I agree, I clean with ordinary soap dry and finish with washed optical cleaning cloths or microfibre cloths. Maybe over 6 times a day. When I mentioned this they said it was the anti reflection coating. I still have the old pair and often find them better for watching TV at lower angles. Difficult to explain but I am not 100% satisfied.

I would say that they either changed to a cheaper supplier or are openly omitting to provide the lens protection that we paid for. I definitely won't go back.
