Hello Gilly, if you are just looking for a base with little in the way of facilities, we stayed recently at Apartamentos Resitur in Triana. It is a short stroll over the bridge right into the centre with the airport bus stop at Torre del Oro close by. The hotel is fairly basic with no restaurant but the prices I found were fantastic. I asked for a quiet room which we got, there is air conditioning and a small kitchen area to boil a saucepan of water for hot drinks, a hob, fridge and microwave, the room was spacious and clean, the bed was firm and the pillows pitiful (we took our own due to comments from previous guests).
We stayed previously at Las Casas de la Judería (a beautiful hotel) for a special occasion with prices around €196 a night but the Resitur is priced from about €48. I found that unless you go upmarket in the old town area you are likely to have shared bathrooms, no air conditioning and often a lot of noise. We found this a perfect no frills option.
