Hello guys

Just wondering what it's like to go to torrevieja in December is the weather nice. Is there plenty of life or does it close down in the winter months. The reason I ask is because I plan to move out there next year but I would like to get some feedback from people who live there all year round.

Torrevieja itself is a Spanish working town so doesn't close down but is still much quieter without the tourists. Some urbanizations have more full time residents than others and some restaurants and facilities will close down, but not all. The best thing you can do is come over in the winter, hire a car and get out and about.
The sun shines most days but it gets chilly once the sun goes down and you will need heating from about October to March/April. That said, if you find yourself a sunny spot out of any wind, you'll need suncream!

Thankyou so much for your reply is there any particular towns you would recommend that are more lively in around December.

Hi, I moved to Los Altos which is a couple of kilometres south of Torrevieja, in winter there is a large community that live here (many nationalities). All the bars, restaurants etc are all open but obviously not as busy as the summer tourist season, plus you have the large shopping mall (zenia boulevard) only a short distance away. Like others have said, Torrevieja is predominately Spanish but not that busy in winter and don’t forget it’s a nightmare to get in and out of the town in the summer months.

Good luck

Hi Michelle

The entire area is fairly lively all year round it's a Spanish working town of near 100, 000 people.

Obviously the summer months are exceptionally busy, but with so many northern Europeans living along the coastal resorts in the winter, as well as the winter tourists, when the nice climate makes it much easier to do things without 40 degree heat, means there's still a load going on.

We're in San Luis and nothing much shuts in the winter during the day, but some weekday nights are quieter.

Thanks so much for your reply that was a great help myself and my daughter have booked our flights for a week in October just looking for somewhere to stay now.

We want to stay somewhere that we can get a local bus to all the surrounding towns as I will be buying out there next year but not sure where to buy in around torrevieja.

Many thanks

Shelly

Hi Shelly53,

We are looking to purchase a property in or around this area but want to be sure about the area before we look at property.

We have stayed in the centre of Torrevieja and in Cabo Roig (just behind the strip). We are out again in October but staying in Playa Flamenca this time.

The area that we stayed in Torrevieja was very busy and noisy with traffic even in October, although we were in a b&b so probably not where you would live. The promenade is lovely with some very nice restaurants and although it wouldn't be our first choice we wouldn't totally rule it out just yet.

Cabo Roig has a stunning coastline and the strip has some very nice bars and restaurants but apart from that we thought it was a bit soulless. It was March when we stayed in Cabo Roig and one thing we did notice was that the weather wasn't anywhere near as nice as it was in October (still better than England though)

Good Luck with your search,

John & Sarah
