I  have  tried  a few Insurance company  in Torrevieja, looking  to  insure  a Republic of Ireland  registered  Car ,  been  informed  some will  only  insure  UK 🇬🇧  registered Car, My Irish  insurance  only  covers  me  for  90  days  and  limited Breakdown  cover,  i  will  be  staying  approximately  4. 1/2  months

Any  advice  greatly appreciated 👏

Tourists stay is limited to 90 days. You need to register for residency, if you're staying longer. That's why you're having dificulty with car insurance.

Since  when  is EU citizen  restricted  to 90 days in Europe,   the question of  my duration  in Spain 🇪🇸  never arose, just  point  blank  answer  they will  not insure Republic of Ireland  registered  Car

The problem arises with insurers. You cannot have 2 different car insurances policies on the same vehicle. Your Irish insurer will, with an extra premium, usually extend your European cover for the extra days.

When I used to come over in my UK car, my insurance company would only cover me for 3 months fully comp but would accept an extra premium for 3rd party up to 6 months.

Allianz.es advertises insurance cover for holidaying in Spain. Try them and also BMISpain advertise temporary car insurance on a monthly basis. Just a couple to look at.

Sure if you search enough you will find an insurer in Ireland that will cover 6 months.

If an EU citizen plans to stay in Spain for longer than 90 days, they must apply for a registration certificate at the Foreigners office of the National Police. This regulation is greatly ignored by some foreign citizens spending time in Spain. I mentioned it, because I see it as a reason for your problem with insurance. I am not interested in discussing legality of your stay abroad.
