That's probably the one giving us the run around.

I have wanted to cut out the middleman, there are standard rates for most notary services. I have sent a mail earlier to one in C/ Ramon  Gallud, in Torrevieja that we used when we bought the house, the notary spoke perfect English.

The service includes transport, Legal advice, Notary fee’s, A copy of the Will for 120 Euro for 1 or 180 efor 2. I personally found the service excellent. They also take care of the recovery when necessary. Have you looked at their website.

Is that 1 person 120E, 2 people 180E?

If you don't mind me asking, what is the notary´s issue?  It's usual for foreigners in Spain to have a Will for their Spanish assets written with the prevailing law of their country of origin.  For example, my husband's and my wills are written with English law taking precedence over Spanish law, so that our country's succession laws apply, not Spain's.  Is the issue because, for you, it would be English law, but for your wife, it would be Italian law prevailing?  I think it would be difficult to "cut out the middle man" without knowing precisely what is the notary's current issue?

We are only taking into consideration Spanish assets. We started about 8 weeks or more ago, and our mails were ignored initially anyway, taking it further. Because my wife is Italian the situation is not like the UK or Spain for that matter. The wishes of my wife were in question and we went back back to Italy for other reasons but at the same time got clarification of the laws regarding succession etc. Actually they are very simple, They did not appear to have any idea of Italian law regarding a testament, only about being intestate. The Notary's office received this info and we were given an appointment for a couple of weeks later, In point of fact yesterday. We got a call as we were about to go out to the appointment, and just 2 hours before the appointment saying that the notary was not sure and that they were cancelling the meeting until a later date. Obviously the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing and the notary was only their for the signing.Tomorrow we are meeting up with an Italian friend who has gone through the procedure and he has also confirmed what we had been told. On Monday I will inform the notary's office that we are not happy with their performance and that we wish to cancel our cooperation in this matter.
