We’ve just arrived out to house hunt in Torrevieja with my mum and sister.

We’re looking in Torrevieja centre at the moment, it seems very quiet past 5pm. Are there any areas that you would suggest looking at, that would have local eateries/coffee shops open late or is it just the time of year?

It may help if you have a look at Jim's Guides on this site for any queries that you will have.   Also, the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain site may help, and for anything to do with driving in Spain have a look at the N332 site.   The latter is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

Just be aware that many provinces and towns 'tweek' national rules and regulations for their own procedures and also that many things may change after the end of this year.

I live near the centre and there are coffee shops open. Below the main church down to the marina you will find Valor, then Plantations, then Mediterranea, then Casino etc also Mudopan near the thearter who do a Lovely apple pie

Valencia region which is us here is closing cafes bars and restaurants from midnight 13 April for 15 Days due to virus prevention.

Schools shut this afternoon until around 29 March. Supermarkets are open for now but all outside markets will cease for 15 days.

If you want help with property searching and areas I would recommend www.spanishteam.com

Or www.housesforfamilies.com

they come highly recommended.

It is going to feel rather disjointed for you at the moment as this closure will make everything feel very quiet as Torrivieja is a bustling town usually.

Precaution is better than cure as the saying goes. If you want to ask any questions about living here and areas I would be happy to help as it is not usually quite.

Just pm me and I will be happy to exchange email addresses or WhatsApp numbers.

It isn't just this area, it is all Spain.

I live in Torrrevieja centre and the reason I love it because it is a vibrant town unlike lots of areas which are more touristy and are quiet in the winter months.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants open after 5. I was there in February and it was buzzing.

Does depend on the weather though. If it's really cold and miserable then the streets are emptier, like most places.
