Cost of living here in Spain is more or less the same as the UK now but you don't have to pay tv licence. Food, gas, etc about same. Electric is slightly more but with the days being warmer and lighter you tend to use less. My elec bills are around €40 a month.

Robbie

We own our apartment  in Torrevieja central for 1 year since end October.

Here is a list of our basic annual expenses.

Electric (standing charge only) €300, Water €144(basic charge only)

Insurance €200, Community Fees €276

IBI €190, Sabadell fees €140

Bin charges €48. TOTAL €1298.

We still have to pay Non Residents Tax for 2019 for 70 days ownership.

Hope this helps!

Hello Robbie

Your question is difficult to answer, as different people have different standards of living.

We are a pair of OAPs who like to go for coffee every day and eat out every week, sometimes more than once.  However we don’t seek out the places that serve ‘British’ food but eat with the Spanish.  We’ve eaten, and enjoyed, things we’d never have dreamt of eating in Blighty.

We rent in Torrevieja, the landlord pays the taxes and charges, and we manage quite happily on our state pensions.

You don't mention food or socialise I take it that's dependant on life style but any monthly spend for this would be appreciated thanks

Hola RS.   Absolutely no comparison to living in the uk. Cost of living here is amazing.    We live here, and have done for 6 years. We paid £1300 community charge in the uk,for a 2 up 2 down,in a not so nice area. Here,we have a 3 story house on an urbanisation. Our Suma, equivalent to comm charge is 240€ yearly, which covers rubbish removal, and urb fees yearly are 250€.  Absolutely no comparison to the uk. Spotless roads, bins emptied in the early hours of the morning. No Prima donna bin men here. They have a brush, and shovel, and sweep up after themselves. Healthcare wonderful. Getting on for Dec,and we have not had any heating on yet. Spanish folk have been nothing but friendly to us. RIP off Britain is how we look at it. One gripe,is that we have been 'ripped off' on a few occasions here, and I'm ashamed to say they were all our own countryfolk!!! We don't even want to set foot in the uk again, but we have to if we want to see family. Can't afford uk extortionate rip off prices? Get over, you won't regret it. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply sounds exactly how we hoped it would be can you tell me on average how much a month a couple would need to live there as I need to make sure we have enough or if we need to work a little longer before we make the move

Hi Gerry59

Can I ask who your water supplier is please?  My water supplier is Hidraqua and the standing charge is way higher, at around 22€ per month!

Thanks in advance.
