Hi all,

We are looking to make a move to La Siesta. We have found a property just waiting on the relevant checks to be done.

Is there any part/full time work in the area long shot I know?

Is there any clubs/social activity’s in the area?

Regards

Adam.

Hi work is very scarce , maybe barwork or waiting but this can be difficult to gain unless you speak Spanish . Then it would be seasonal . But after Covid it's probably going to be even more difficult to gain employment . Sorry but that's the reality of it .

Good luck on your move

Have you actually seen the property in person? The reason I ask is that selling to move elsewhere has been a problem for some time now and with the economy slowing down again will become even more of a problem. If you found when you got to Spain you weren't totally happy it would be expensive to sell and buy another.

To give yourself far more options it might be better to arrange a rental, say for 6 months, and then see that the area really suits you. There are lots of rentals, and even more for sale, available and will sadly become far more I think.

Of course you may already know the area, and property, you are purchasing so if that is the case good luck!!

The above post is good advice. Getting work of any kind in Spain seems to be a tough one. At home, anyone can get something eg a spot of gardening, cleaning windows, home help and many more but you can’t do that in Spain as anyone will tell you. Even renting your home out is illegal unless you have a special renting licence. It’s difficult/ nigh impossible I’d say. Unless you can afford to finance yourselves, you’d find things tough going. Very rarely will people make a profit on property sales, some may be lucky but people come to our area looking for a bargain and only prepared to pay below value price. On top of that, more and more houses are popping up, more modern and designed to suit the tourists. Many of the older properties are smaller and darker inside , designed to keep the house cool in summer and warmer in winter but with air con now widely installed , you don’t need these features. Please do not rush into anything, particularly at this time.

Meanwhile, I wish you all the best and hope your dreams come true.

Hi all.

We already live in Spain and would never buy before viewing and making sure the relevant papers was in order.
