Hola Everyone

My wife and I are hopefully moving to Torrevieja in October this year once we obtain our NLV and looking forward to living a completely different life to that which we have now

We are both looking forward to involving ourselves in the community and hopefully meeting new  friends with similar interests along the way.

Bye for now see you later. 👋

Hi,

Welcome to the forum where I'm  sure that you'll receive plenty of advice and information if needed.

I hope that your move goes smoothly.

My partner and I moved over here 20 years ago and have never had any regrets, I hope that you get to love spain as much as we do.

Have  any  idea  what area of Torrevieja  you will get  living  in,  it  a  nice  size Town,  The  Centre  of Torrevieja  has in  my  opinion  very  narrow  streets,  But  a  good  ex pat  committee  all  around  Torrevieja

Best  wishes  with  your  move and I  hope  you  settle  in  easy  enough,  but it  can be a bit of  culture  shock, Living  and Holidays  in Torrevieja  different    lifestyle

Thank you. We hope it works out for us as we can’t stand the weather in Scotland any longer. Lots more reasons for the move though.

We have an air b and b booked in Calle Galenfrom October until June We understand holidaying and living in Spain are two different things so expect there will be difficulties we will need to work through.

I would rather we had a longer term rental but we should know if it’s for us by next year hopefully. We still have our house in Scotland should things not work out. Thank you

If you get tired of the "little Britain" feel of the Torrevieja suburbs give Valencia city a try...

Vibrant, less poor and many things to pass your time...

Unlike many folk I don’t have a problem mixing with Brit’s in fact I’ll be relieved as my Spanish isn’t great at the moment.
It will also be helpful having local knowledge of how things work.

Hi

What  I  will  say, is  keep  some  sort of accommodation  back  in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿   as July  August  mad  😡  Heat 🔥  it  is nice to get  away from it   also  later in   Life,  none of  us  know, what  direction  our  help will take, if  you  Family  back  in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿  it  nice to have there near hand

Go  to  your  Local  Health  centre  in Torrevieja  and register  and  get a  SIP  card 💳

Join  up  with  Local  clubs  in  your area possibly  Walking 🚶  club,  they  can found  by  asking  in a Restaurants  or Pub  in  your  area,

I  would  consider  getting  a  run  around  Car for  Shopping   and  Shopping  in  Early morning  or  late evening  in  Serious  Heat  🔥  and  getting  away  for  a  Day  out to see beautiful  scenery  around  Greater  Alicante  area,  Get  involved  in  your  area,  meeting  new people,

Watch  population  explode in Summer  season  and Parking  hard to come  by  near  beaches.

Spainish  can be  noisy  neighbours  and they  like  their  Siesta  in afternoon  and  like it to  be  respected,  Get  use  to Dog  dirt of  Streets,,, It  a disgusting 🤢. Try  to  learn  Spanish  it  will  help a lot with  settling  in and  Spanish  people  appreciate  it.

That my small  bit  of  experience  about  Spanish  life

After liviing here for 25 years I've never noticed a ' Little Britain' feel at all , unlike some parts of Benidorm.

It all depends on  your social life and who you choose to mix with and in fact some parts of Torrevieja can be called 'Little Scandinavia' .
