Hi everyone

I have just found this forum while looking for properties for sale in Torrevieja. I am so pleased to have found you all as I am looking to move to Torrevieja some time this year and would be very grateful for any information from others who have already bought and moved there. I have studied all the areas as to what facilities etc are available in the different districts and Torrevieja appears to have it all.

Anyway for now I just wanted to call in and say Hi.

Chezz

Hi Chezz, we have a place in the centre of Torrevieja and come out whenever we can.  I've joined this forum to make friends and keep busy when we're here. Mel

Hi Chezz and welcome to the forum!

We have a great member on this forum, Jim Taylor, who has written a whole series of guides about living in Spain:

Jim's guides - your complete guide to Spain

You may not need, just yet, all the detailed information available, but I'd highly recommend browsing through them, so that you start to get a good feel for how things work here.  And, of course, you can ask on here as well.

Exciting times ahead for you - enjoy!

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you Kim. I shall certainly have a read of Jims articles. I feel I have been researching for ages but there is no better way to get information than straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

Nice to meet you

Chezz

Hi Chezz

Yes Torrivieja is very central if you do not have a car. There is a central bus station so good to get around and lovely beaches.

If you are right I  town it would be like most towns noisy at night, especially in summer but many prefer that.

Just outside of the Town is the 3 urbanisations of Toretta. Many bars cafes supermarket etc and across the road from the Habernaras Shopping Mall.

As always depends on budget needs and wants.

I always recommend www.spanishpropertyteam.com

and www.housesforfamilies.com

See what they have in your budget and then contact them on further advice and help.

First thing is to get your NIE number which is similar to the UK National Insurance number. Then you can open up a bank account ready for your purchase.

Also bear in mind to add at least 13% on top of the purchase price for tax, notary, solicitor fees etc.

Happy negotiating for your new adventure.

Gilly

Hi Gilly and thanks for the information. I know there are a lot of things to sort out once I get to Spain. Torreta area is one of the areas I was looking at as I am not wanting to be beach/town area. One of my biggest problems is that I am in a wheelchair so need to find suitable property for my needs and I have seen many nice bungalow type properties there. It’s not just me looking for a property my friend and carer is moving to Spain also so we are both looking to be near one another.

It’s been an exciting time looking over property lists but now Xmas is over the real hard work starts in earnest.

Thanks again and nice to meet you Gilly.

Hi, I bought in the La Siesta area, lovely and peaceful and still has some gorgeous little bungalows for sale. Just do all your homework and don’t give the agent your deposit, always use a independent solicitor ( this was a mistake I made, only because we were in a rush to get our flight) and have a good look around , sit in a few bars locally and ask questions, good luck with your search, one agent that has brilliant reviews is Orange Casas, they really listen to what you want and have patience of a saint 👍

Another site that may be of assistance is the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain.    Be aware that many provinces and towns ‘tweek’ the national rules and regulations for their own procedures, and also that many things may change once the U.K. leaves the E.U.

Thank you Both

La Siesta is another of the places i have viewed appears nice and quiet. You say don’t give the agent the deposit who do I give it to.

I will get my own solicitor definitely. I already have a currency agent over here from the TV show “A place in the show” I hope they are trustworthy.

I’ve seen a lot of don’t trust the estate agents it’s enough to scare you silly.

Thanks for your help and nice to meet you
