lol!  I will from now on, especially when they say "our budget is £xxx" and the presenter tries to push them a little bit  higher.  At the end of the show they always put the year of filming  and €/£  conversion rate, surely they could add a note about the extra costs.

Oh well, thanks to this forum I'm aware and prepared and can allow for it.

To be fair to a place in the sun I was at their fair in Manchester and they say to lucky candidates to add 15 percent to their overall maximum offer.

Also, don't forget to take other things in to account like the Suma (Council Tax in effect), Electricity & Water is more expensive than the UK as well and check if there are any community charges for pools, gardening, street lighting, etc.

You will find food and drink is a lot cheaper but other things like white goods and cars are a lot dearer..   But then again there's plenty of Sun and that's free..

We are coming to buy a property soon and the only way to accept the 10% and the other fees is to put it in perspective comparing property prices to where you live. Houses in my area are costing £380-£450,000.  A property in Spain of £150,000 is small compared.  Plus you have the sun.  Its worth it - I think.  Also - the change of attitude is unbelievable.  Where I live people are well off but very glum on a daily basis.  The sun brings out the best in 'most' people.  I am certainly going to enjoy every day.  We are on day seven of rain here in Cardiff.  It was hailstoning four days ago -would you believe it.  It was sunny for Easter so maybe that WAS the summer.

Regards

Chris

Thanks Chris, I agree with your comments. I was in Abergele at easter, glorious weather but now, omg! It is enough to say I live near Manchester! I also agree that the weather  brings out the best in most people, it certainly does with me. I'm looking forward to a slower more laid back kind of life, it will does us both good. I could quite happily live my life in tee shirts and shorts :-)   Hopefully within the next 12 months we will have a place there.

Good luck with your move and thanks again for your comments, we appreciate them.

You  mean that the price that they asked for you accepted and you told them that they needed to include everything for you.?  Yes I can see why they accepted that.  The asked for it in the overpriced price of the property in the first place.  The first thing you do is knock them down by 15 to 20% and you usually meet somewhere in the middle.   Everybody knows that!
