Hi everyone

My name is Karen. My son and myself are looking to relocate to torrevieja next year to run a restaurant/cafe business.

My son is a qualified chef and his name is Lee.

I have a 9 year old westie called Bobby.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and ask for any advice on our exciting move.

Thank you

Taking over any existing business doesn't mean you can run it. All permits and concessions are limited to the actual operator, and you will have to apply for your own (except if it's an incorporated company - SL or similar). Among other foot traps you and your kitchen staff need a so called "Certificado de Manipulador de Alimentos" issued by the local council after passing an exam on hygene issues. And there is more. A no go is lack of a toilet for the handicapped.

It may help with many queries that you will have if you have a look at Jim's Guides on this site.   Be aware that many of the rules and regulations may also change when/if the UK leaves the EU, and also be aware that many provinces and towns 'tweek' the national rules and regulations for their own procedures.   Another couple of sites that it may help to have a look at are as follows:   the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for general queries, and the N332 site for anything to do with driving in Spain.   The latter site is run in conjunction with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.

Good luck with your plans.

Make sure you engage a good aborgado such as Fontanals in Torrevieja to take care of the legal side. They can help with the tax as well. Tel 966 731 353 UK No. 07598376064.

What an exciting time for you. Keep your dreams alive and know that positivity WILL make the success.

If you are interested I know of a bar/restaurant that is for sale or on rent to buy that would thrive with your forward thinking and your son's talent as a chef. Fully fitted stainless steel kitchen. Happy to discuss privately. All licenses are in place and up to date all fire extinguishers and bug certificates all up to date.

The owner will provide a 3 month handover and introduce all brewery etc contacts. He is retiring.

You may already be sorted so no problem.

I wish you every success and happiness in your new venture.

Positivity wins every time. Gilly

If you're set on Torrevieja, OK. However, I do know of a very good bar/restaurant business that might suit you however in La Marina village just down the road which is leasehold and for sale. The owner is asking 32,000€ and has to give up the responsibility of the place as her husband is quite poorly. She is willing to stay on and work as a staff member. She will also be giving up her 2 bedroom rental property on the Urbanisation La Marina just up the road as she and her husband have another place to move to. If you are interested, please PM me for further details
