Hi, my husband Eddie and I recently purchased an apartment in the Playa de la Mata area and we plan to visit quite regularly. We would love to get to know some other English speakers in the area (our Spanish needs working on!) for friendship, socialising and information exchanging. We enjoy eating out, lively conversations and generally making the most of the relaxed Spanish lifestyle. Any information/contacts we can get for social groups with similar interests in the la Mata area would be great. Ruth

Hi Ruth,
How wonderful for you! It’s like winning the lottery only better when you realise that you and your husband have a home in the sun!
We aren’t too far from you and generally visit on a very regular basis. We’d be delighted to meet up. We find that our part of Torrevieja is more cosmopolitan and is visited by Scandinavian and other nationalities rather than English speaking people. Certainly there is no shortage of expats on the other side of Torrevieja so it would be fun to meet up. We too enjoy eating out locally. We hope to visit on 24th September and return home on 11th October.
You will be thrilled with your choice of location as you have the coast on your doorstep and lots of lovely restaurants close by. Good bus service too. We bought almost 19 years ago and have never regretted it. Good luck. Look forward to meeting up.
Please let me know when you are available.
Rosemary.
Hi Ruth.
Great choice of location 😀
Try out Bocaditos on a Tuesday night - Local English speaking owners congregate there.
Enjoy your new home!
Sam

Please tell us where this place is. Is it in La Mata? If so, where?
Thanks.
Hi.
Yes, in la mata. It is just around the corner from the restaurant Playa Los Flores (street parallel to the beach) - 40 Avenida de Alemania. Not far from corner of los Europeos.
It’s a very unassuming bar but on Tuesdays there is a quiz and music.
Enjoy!

Hi Rosemary, thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately we will not be in Spain on the dates you mention, but would love to keep in touch so if we coincide at a later date we could arrange to meet up.

Hi Sam, thank you for your response. Eddie has flown over today for a few days to sort out a couple of things. Unfortunately I cannot join him this time due to work commitments, but he said he will pop over to Bocadito's as per your suggestion.
