Yes, a Tax Return must be made every year regardless of the fact your circumstances not having changed.

Thank You.
My information is that everybody has to do an initial return in order to be registered in the tax system but after that if your income is under €13,000 and from one single source then further returns are not necessary.

Very interesting, as we will be making our second Annual Tax Return in a couple of months please supply the source of your information.

Thank You but I got in a right mess listening to other people last year. Not saying you are incorrect, but so very worried after what happened last year. Will see what my Accountant says.

Gez, just to make the situation clear:
If you're non-resident then you have to do an annual tax return and pay tax.
In your case, as a resident, having once done a tax return, if no tax is due in future years then you don't need to do a tax return.
However, keep details of your income in the years for which you don't submit a return, in the (very unlikely) event that Agencia Tributaria make a query. After five years you can destroy those records.

Thanks Jim, I did private message you last year when it all cracked of with the tax office. You was very helpful. We both did a nil tax return last year. Our Income has not changed as we both take a small pension to keep us under the threshold. But as the euro has changed even though it keeps us under the threshold. Would that be seen as a change in income. I really don’t want to go through what we went through last year. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

I can't remember your details, and I don't normally keep PMs because I don't like to store other people's personal information.
However, if you're under 65 then you aren't liable for tax if your income is less than €13115. Over 65 the tax free amount is €14265.
If you're under the relevant figure, then you don't need to do a tax return.

Thank you Jim you are so helpful. You do a amazing job. You have put my mind at rest. Love the Spanish way of life and just want to do every thing right. I understand if you kept every private message you would have to get a new computer as your memory would get so full every few months.
