Hi my name is Wendy and hopefully in 4 wks time we will have completed the sale of our home in the UK and be on a flight to Alicante.. we are a family of 4 2 girls age 13/11..We only live once and feel this is something we need to do and hopefully give my kids an experience of another lifestyle..another language..life experience.... we are hoping to rent initially and have been advised on renting for 3 months plus as not classed as a holiday rental.. this will give us time to look around the area and hopefully buy a home and look at high schools for the girls..we have nowhere to go immediately as I need to know the exact date then god knows il just have to book something for a few days until we find something more permanent to rent.. job side does worry us but I am a qualified cook and work in school meals at the moment so with my catering background I am hoping to find work.. my husband a warehouse manager but any work bar/cafe/shops etc we obviously will be happy to do if we can find as I understand the unemployment in Spain can be as bad as the UK...please be kind with any help advice or anyone who would be willing for us to rent their property long term cheaper than a holiday rental would be brilliant or initially just for the first few days of us getting out there.... hope to meet up with ex pats soon for their advice and experiences x

Hi, I live in torre de la Horadada which I believe is the best all round place to live. Unfotunately I lost my wife last year and find myself in a house with room to spare. I would not concider renting it out but I would offer you somewhere to come to so that you then could look for something more permanent. Let me know if you are interested and then we can discuss it further. Len.

Hi Wendy,

We thought on renting for 3 months, but be warned it would have to be out of season,as in high season, you would be paying premium prices for any rental properties,as what you will pay in high season, per week, you would only pay that per month or less

And you would not get the best of places this late in the year.

Be lucky

Dave

Hi, good luck with your move we found our property two years ago in August and the lovely couple we purchased off were in no hurry to move and gave us plenty of time to sell our house we finalised in feb this year and are moving out with our nearly 18yre old daughter in November,

we are traveling down next week and again in July to prepare for our move in November we are moving for the same reasons as you.

We purchased our property threw livespainforlife  they are on line and were very helpful well we found our dream home.

Felicity

Wendy, it may help with some of your queries if you have a look at the following couple of sites.

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for general queries.

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   Run by Guardia Civil officers in Torrevieja for English speaking people.

Hi Wendy, you will find that I am 17 kilometres from Torrevieja. On the main N322. Going South. Regards Len.
