Hola,

I am already for a quiet while member of this forum, but never posted something here.

Me Bert and my partner is Anne. We arrived in Torrevieja in the beginning of last month. (On the first Ferry from Ireland to Spain) and we have plans to Stay permanent overhere.

Anne has reach her retirement age, and I asked and having a Sabbatical Year from my employment.

I hope to make it here in Spain, but I don´t want to burn all the bridges down.

To be honest I thought it was a little bit easier to get a little bit of work, but for the moment no such of luck. I hope my calculations are right and we can survive for a Year without income, but a little bit of money to help to pay the bills is always handy. (Also Anne is getting a little bit sick of me, when I am always around her ;-)

For so far we are doing well, The apartment is nearly our home (a few things to sorting out) Fibre Internet is installed (A must for me) and we are starting to find our way in Torrevieja end I just started some Spanish lessons.

Anne is trying to find some English speaking people to meet. She tried some of the ´meeting groups´ but for so far it she is not really succeeding in it. Does someone have any suggestions?

Work will always be hard to find, no way am I negative it's a fact of life living in Spain for most of us foreigners😀.

Charities are always looking for volunteers it's a good way to meet folks and get out of the house. And you never know hear about a bit of work.

The free papers have details of clubs and stuff have a look something may take your fancy.

Just relax and enjoy living here, it all turns out good in the end.

Dear Anne and Bert

I enjoyed reading your post and admire your determination to settle in Spain.  I recently bought a small apartment in Torrevieja 03181, mainly for use over the winter months and would like to make contacts so that when I do come over, I will have some friends to ring and meet up with for a coffee and a chat.  I am a retired teacher and have reasonable Spanish so would be happy to help with regard to the language. Do send me a private message if you would like to meet in the town;  I shall be coming over on 12 September.

Un saludo
