Hi Marcia,

I am also thinking of going to Spain to look for a place to buy.  I just turned 70 and feel like you a little apprehensive. Thought to rent a place in Torrevieja. Beniconnect offers an airport shuttle from Alicante to Torrevieja costing £18.00.

Where are you flying from?

When are you thinking to go?

Perhaps we could meet.

Kind regards

Ingrid

Marcia,we purchased a holiday home in Gran Alacant in December 2018. We love the fact that’s is around 10 minutes from the airport so very convenient.
we are located in lower gran alacant and love that it’s around 10 minutes walk to bars and restaurants, 15 minute walk to GA centre and around same to Masa square. We are also around 20 minutes walk from Carabassi beach.

I have been informed it’s around €20-25 for a taxi from airport

One thing you will need to be aware of is just how cold Spain can be during the winter months. Few houses have heating or insulation. It can be pleasant during the day in the sun, but very cold during the evenings and early morning - for example we have just had some friends on a flying visit and it rained from the time they landed virtually until they left, and it was very cold and windy also.

Hi. I would rent to begin with.  I am renting in guardamar which is much smaller as less daunting to begin with. It's a very comfortable and safe area easy walking around town which has all you will need. From there you can get buses to check out other areas. There are groups that you can meet up with and get to know the area better. Good luck

Regards Jan

hi Ingrid, yes it is daunting but we want to make a move sooner rather than later.we will be flying from Birmingham but due to family commitments not until mid January.we only decided to start looking last week so its been a bit hectic.we have a three week cruise booked in February so that makes it difficult to stay out there as long as we had planned.however when we get back we will be looking to rent for a month or so to enable us to look around and decide which is the area for us.it would be nice to meet and discuss the pros and cons with someone else planning to make the move.depends where you are really.regards marcia

I have found Guardamar a good Base as on coast bus route from.alicante although the winter bus timetables this time are not very good. But can get nth and south Mon to Friday. There are quite a few agents and a few reasonable hotels. In fact I maybe able to give you a name and number to try he may do a short rent. I will find out tomorrow and let you know.

Good luck

Hi Marcia,

I will be renting in Torrevieja hopefully from mid January next year so I am pretty central with good communication links for the surounding area.

If you are in the area please get in touch.

Hope you are going to have a faboulous cruise.

Kind regards

Ingrid
