Very little work. The market is saturated with people with your trade all looking. If you have no Spanish this reduces your chance.

You won't get a proper job, you would need to go self employed this can be costly and a lengthy process.

You will need lots of savings as it's unlikely you will earn enough or on a consistent basis to fund your living costs

Not the news you want but honesty is important

Thank you so much for your quick response. Yes our family has savings and many trades to offer between us . We have valuable  and a very wide trades & experience and will be a honest trustworthy family available in the area soon  with family members around. Looking forward to bringing positive things to the local community. Many thanks mike .

Hello, take a look at Stephanie86´s post dated Jan 4th, it pretty much covers what you need to know, as with the advice from 271935. Many, many posts on here for people in the building trade looking to move here.
Unless agreements are made between UK and Spanish governments to keep a status quo for acquiring residency post Brexit, I suggest you ensure you qualify under the current requirements for a non EU resident which are more onerous. You will definitely need private medical insurance as your EHIC is not valid if you are living here and could well be obsolete post Brexit.
Without meaning to sound rude, any valuable skills and experience you have will already be covered here in Spain, over and above what is needed.
There are few, if any, signs that Spain´s economy is likely to improve significantly in the coming years, arguably only getting worse. The process for obtaining Residencia includes proving that you have enough income and/or savings so you will not be a drain on the already teetering Spanish economy and it is a legal requirement to have Residencia if you plan to live in Spain for more than 90 days.

Unless you are extremely lucky or already rich, your dream has every likelihood of becoming a nightmare. Sorry again, but them´s the facts.

Dear Cheryl, you are much too optimistic with regards to Spain's economy. Actual public debt (the highest in history) outrages the national gross income, there are no signs of substantial changes in unemployment, and widely spread corruption up to highest levels does the rest. The outlooks are more than discouraging, the whole social-economic system must and will bust - sooner or later.

Hi guys

Does this mean it is easy to find tradesman and cheap. We are moving to Oliva in March and have the whole villa to renavate .

I am a builder myself but will need assistance from others to get the the place completed

Just be careful Pete.  Spain is awash with people who can turn their hand to anything type of people who call themselves tradesmen.

Your a builder so you shouldn't get stung, just ask all the right questions before you let anyone loose on your house

In any case, never award any work to anyone without a written estimate. Do not accept payment other than total amount upon accomplishment of the entire job. Common use is that you get a very low estimate, and then as the work progresses you are asked for a part payment. Once you paid, you'll be required to renegotiate a considerably higher price for whatever the reasons might be. If you don't accept, you're left on your own and the contracted person just won't show up any more. The cashed in amount will be of course higher than for what he has really done. So, beware.
