Prior to Covid the general advice would be to have sufficient cash to cover you for the first year and it is too soon to know how things will pan out afterwards but Spain had the second highest unemployment rate in the EU after Greece before all this happened and this will not have helped. It is very expensive to employ people here on full contracts and unless you speak Spanish your chances of finding work are very low.
You will have 90 days to gain Residency and part of that process is to prove that you have sufficient resources not to become a burden on the state, currently at €750 a month and possibly rising to €2,400 post Brexit.
Have a look at Jim's Guides in a tab at the top of the page for all aspects of living in Spain.
