We are going to retire to torrevieja in 2 years. I have been looking at 2 bedroom bungalows for about 60.000. in torretas. Is this a nice area to live in. We do not drive so is this area have all the amenities we would need. Is the cost of living here expensive. Any tips for here or other areas would be greatly appreciated.
The area is very well connected with shops, amenities and public transport. The only thing you have to be careful of is flash flooding in some areas of the Torretas. It is likely to affect the same places each time there is a downpour due to the lay of the land as water drains from the CV905 towards the lakes. When we get a downpour here we are talking serious amounts of rain, maybe twice a year with the last being at Easter and there is plenty of information if you google it and here is one, https://www.weekender.news/tag/flood/
The cost of living here is a lot cheaper than the UK but you will need some form of heating for the winter as homes are usually single skin and not insulated. During the day it is not such a problem if you are out and about in the sunshine but the minute the sun goes down, until about 2 hours after it has risen again, it will feel very cold indoors.
The only other thing I would stress is for you to get your own independent Abogado to represent you when buying and again there is plenty online to explain why.

Hello there we bought in Torreta 2 18 months ago. We had no problems with flooding during the bad rain spell. I believe there was some in Torreta Florida, ( Torreta 1) sorry don’t know about Torreta 3. Torreta 2 and 3 has community pools with bars/ restaurants attached. There are many multicultural nationalities, in my area. All very friendly too. Local bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Torreta 2 is fairly quiet where I live most people live all year round, but doesn’t seem to get overcrowded and as you say walking distance to most amenities. The Torretas also have a bus service, which will take you down to the Terminus near the marina. Good luck with your search. I would recommend my area and hope you have very nice neighbours just like us. x

We bought a 3 bed apartment one street back from los naufragos beach for just over 65000 but there are 2 bed bungalows near us for around the 50000 mark, personally speaking I prefer to live where the locals live and not on one of the developments that might empty during the winter months, plus everything is in walking distance, no car or bus needed, visit where you are thinking of buying during the winter months and not in summer when people are holidaying.

The Torretas have many Spanish locals living there - I have 4 x sets of Spanish people as neighbours and they are lovely - always willing to help or advise
