Yesterday 31/05 we had a a visit in Torreta 2 by "Strimmer man" who distributed the contents of the side of the road into a more central location. After an hour or so "Blower man" came and made an even better job of distributing what was already there, plus some. This was followed later by the dust raising "Distribution truck" No86. which re distributed everything again. Sometime this afternoon (01/06) It would appear that further progress has been made in some sort of concerted effort to spread it around yet again. The material that has been spread around consists of stones of many sizes up to about 4cm and leaves etc. Children often play in this street and if a vehicle had to stop quickly, it would probably skid on this gravelly mix with unforetold consequences. I have attached some pictures of the road during the last 48 hours. I see some areas of Torrevieja are well looked after but here it is a Ghetto and the town hall does almost nothing at all.

I should also add that this was a  one way street and according to the police it still is. However about 2 years ago, One fine night some people removed the One way sign and post and filled the hole with cement. I did report it to the local police but nothing was ever done about it.

The last picture is the final result at about 16.00 today. My question is How do I send a complaint to the town hall and / or Mayor of Torrevieja?

Are you complaining that they basically came to clean up a mess that was there but did a really bad job and made worse? Normally I find the Spanish tend to keep on top of cleaning, atleast round this way they do. It might have been a just a local guy with a blower taking on the task himself and making a not so good job of it. You could complain to the town hall but I doubt they will do anything

Good luck with complaining to the police or Townhall nothing will get done.

We live on the Montegolf slum, used to be a lovely place to live but like the rest of Orihuela costa due to lack of money being spent on the most basic of services it has been turned into a slum. We dont get rubbish collected roads are either full of potholes that have gone unrepaired for years or so overgrown with weeds it's impossible to tell where the road ends and the footpath starts. There is no decent bus service. The health service has gone from being one of the best to being one of the worst. We have no quality of life at all, hardly conducive to a happy retirement. There are local elections in May next year but unless the residents get out and vote you will get more of the same. Makes no difference now to us as we are selling up and moving back to the UK.

It wasn't just a local guy, Later yesterday I noticed that other local roads had been reduced to the same level. If you are really lucky the distribution truck stops outside your place for a break, you are then rewarded by a cowpat size black oil slick. You are making the right decision I think, In this area it is pretty crappy, not as bad as Catalunya, but nowhere near as good as the CdS.

We were really cossetted there, clean streets, immediate replies to questions or complaints from the town hall/mayor and action! (Torremolinos) Good benefits for residents, lower taxes on many services 8% instead of 10%. Police that were red hot on traffic and parking infractions. (Yes we got a few fines too) Only downside was the cold sea. Wish we had never left but family problems forced us to move north. 3 years ago we went back to check it out but prices had risen outside of our pockets. Next year we will probably either go back to Italy or maybe the UK.

Not a local guy, Council! Yes they just exacerbated the problem and Yes they will probably do nothing!

I would certainly NOT recommend Torrevieja (and probably anywhere else in the Valencian community) to anyone unless they are into balcony exploits!

Just a suggestion and I know it doesn’t really solve the problem, but why not get a broom,a shovel and a wheelbarrow and sweep it up yourself?

Italy uses to nice (north) but now the problem is the same plus it's also littered with homeless Africans sleeping on the streets , begging outside supermarkets and trying to "charge" for reserving your car space....never used to be like that. Shame because it's a beautiful country.

Hello

Exactly what I thought DUI, it would have taken much less time than taking photos (of not much) uploading them & posting a complaint on the forum,  which will change -- nothing!

Cheers

I think you need to get out more.

Or change your mindset!

I do this regularly, but I got complaints because these stones had been placed on the dirt tracks to improve access and should be returned there instead of being thrown away. Now I keep only the area outside my house clear of weeds and all sorts of debris and ignore the rest,  usually ! The people that live on the dirt tracks appear to be quite happy with the mud, use of gravel etc to fill the holes. The whole area is slowly degrading, partially due to Brexit, and rented occupation!!
