I very much want to learn Spanish however all teachers insist on you learning Spanish grammar  I want to learn parrot fashion as the very young do, the grammar will come later. Phrases and conversational bytes, i did this with German and it was very successful.

Try Duolingo, it comes in nice bite-size pieces and you can do as much as you want at a time with lots of repetition to help it sink in.

Thank you, the language exchange class sounds really good and my husband definitely good enough, will look into it. I think I'm looking more for coffee and chat with a Spanish person who understands some English ,a sort of part exchange😅

Try Paul Noble on you tube, he also has an audio book, not sure if they do but when I purchased my first book on Audible it was free. He is very similar to Michelle Thomas, Plimsleur courses.

This will help, as I explained my English grammar background is pretty useless , at first I misunderstood when you said English has 17 vowel sounds, ( sounds) being the operative word! I knew we had 5 vowels which is how you confused me! Ah well never to late to learn🤗
