Hi.......out of curiosity were the panels installed by yourself or a company? I only ask because of any installer guarantees required by the electrical supplier to be able to get the tariff for payback.

Fully appreciate that the size of any given system will be the deciding factor of whether to go down the PV route or not.

Technology is constantly changing and there is no way of keeping up with these things. After 9 years how is the system performing and have you got the original inverter?

Regards Glen

We have had panels installed for 8 years, the Company has gone, in fact the original Company who installed made a complete pig of the installation, got another Company in to re-install and they have also gone, we don't know if they are working properly, no one has ever checked them, we have 8 and have no idea who to contact to get them checked out, it seems only the installation Company will check over panels.........  Can anyone advise.  Thank you

The panels are on a townhouse 3 floors up on the roof, so there is no way we could remove them and make a carport, we have a garage, the problem is we need an engineer to say they are still working after 8 years............

I think you need a reputable company to fit a smart meter which displays the power you are generating. Also it will be viewable on your phone via the necessary app.

This is problem in Spain is here today and gone tomorrow with certain business's. How it used to be with getting English TV 18 years ago.

It depends how it was originally set up, whether for your sole use with an inverter which converts the power the solar panels produce into useable electricity for your home only or it is connected so as to supply the grid. The first gives you free electricity but if it is  connected to the grid, you will then get free units for the electricity your panels produce against the electricity you use. It should be okay unless the solar panels are defective but most are reliable. Some have a lifespan for 10-15 years.

When you get your next bill you will soon see if you have any free credits, now you have dealt with the lady. If you don't have any, you should get an electrician to check if power is being produced.
