Went for walk today, whole the coast looks and smells like an environmental disaster. I used to pick rubbish while walking, today you need a lorry to do it. Sad, sad story...

Unfortunately so few people voted in the last local elections in 2019 we have got what we deserve. If we want change those of us who can need to get out and vote next May otherwise it's more of the same for another 5 years.

Every morning, early, the streets of Torrevieja are washed and litter removed. It’s members of the public who cause the litter. I thing the council workers  work extremely hard to try and keep the areas as clean as possible. We live on the borders of Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa and every Saturday the street cleaner truck comes to clean up any litter and debris.

What is unusual for many people if the smell of sewage. Before we bought, we used to rent a holiday apartment in Torrevieja and at times it was incredibly strong. Didn't seem to affect some of the restaurants but it would turn our stomachs. It's pretty much the same when we drive to La Zenia.

One of the reasons we bought a little further from the coast.

That said you often have to look at things on the whole and we always think Torrevieja is a place with; life, shops, restaurants, bars, beaches. Not been there much this year, only if going to the bank or tax people. I can park easily/ cheaply and haven't trodden in any dog t*rds, afaik. It is what it is.

When I see pictures of rubbish building up on the streets in Glasgow or Paris, it reminds me that many cities can't adequately deal with the waste they create. That's why I don't live in a city/ very large town.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

More likely the tourists, mainly English I suspect. Have you seen how dirty the UK is?

I live on the Paseo Juan Aparicio. The city starts cleaning in front of my home every day around 6:30 AM. Blowers and washers. Either truck scrubbers or pressure washers. The benches are painted semi-annually. The beaches are scraped and smoothed almost nightly. I’m very pleased with where we live and the cleanliness.

Try a USA resort waterfront. None compare to Torre

The streets could do with a good wash down and the Spanish should clean up after dogs.. it’s disgusting.

I agree, why don't they have signs on posts in all areas to pick up dog mess, seems only main towns , should be in all roads, its a health hazard.

The main centre and promenades of Torre are generally cleaned to a very good standard. However, the further back you go into more densely populated parts then the dirtier it can get....in some places.

I live in San Luis and I'd say in general terms it's a nice ,sleepy suburb, but there are poor neighbours who leave rubbish out instead of inside the bins and there is a lot of dog dirt.

I'm blaming all nationalities here.

People are the problem not the council.

I find the classic of people, be it Spanish or whoever putting dog poo in a plastic bag, then leave the bag on the pavement of if you have a tree nearby even better leave it there.

Hello

You should direct  your question to the Ayuntamiento. I'd be interested in their answer as Ive lived here almost 20years & don't find it any worse than anywhere else in the area.

Like most busy working towns &  holiday destinations & after the summer invasion of thousands   of visitors, some areas might need a bit of attention but some are absolutely fine.

Cheers

I disagree,I find Altea far cleaner even in the summer tourist months, also our civil and guardia police keep it non threatening,
