Hi Swingers,
I don't "hate" the Tories, but I loathe BoJo and the enabling Cabinet Ministers who tolerated his incompetence and lies because they believed he was a vote winner.
Despite being a Tory supporter most of my adult life, the Tories haven't had my vote since 2010 and, as a Remain voter, they are unlikely to ever get my vote again. Although Brexit is not yet done, "Exit" is also not yet done until BoJo leaves office, so our country remains in limbo with a lame-duck Prime Minister.
Personally, I don't see Labour's stance on Brexit as a problem, because I don't believe we can rejoin the EU on the terms we previously enjoyed any time soon. Where Starmer differs from BoJo is that he's prepared to rebuild a strong relationship with the EU, with mutual trust at its core. Hopefully, this could eventually lead to bilateral agreements between the UK and the EU which address some of the worst impacts of Brexit. I don't think that can happen unless the anti-EU bile is removed from the Tories, starting with Rees-Smug and the rest of the ERG, so ironically, a Labour government may be your best bet for reinstating Freedom of Movement and an exception of the Schengen rules for UK citizens.
Kind regards
Kim
