Hi,

La Siesta is in between San Luis and El Chapparal and they merge into one and are inbetween Torrevieja  and La Mata salt lakes. Due to this there are enough bars, restaurants and amenities if you like a social life but not really busy like some resorts on Orihuela Costa. Theres a local health centre, water park, chemist, petrol station, dentist and lawyers. and a variety of Spanish and English bars and restaurants. Obviously due to covid 19 unfortunately some businesses may not survive. If you go on TripAdvisor and put restaurants La Siesta Torrevieja in you'll see what's around. There's also an Age Concern centre and places you can go for zumba, etc. We have a good bus service that runs every half hour to Torrevieja (stopping at Carrefour). Also a Mercadona close by.

Hope this helps and just PM me if you want.

Hi totally agree with the last post, we live in San Luis, plenty to walk to in local area, great health centre that speak English, large supermarket, social club and more. We have had several guests stay with us who have bought properties, if you are interested in accommodation in the area pm me.

The "Ladies of the night" were only ever on the roundabouts(still not very nice) and never in the 16 years we've been here have we seen them actually in La Siesta. Even before the coronavirus hit we hadn't seen any for about a year so think the police may have tightened up a bit , fingers crossed.

Have seen one on the La Mata roundabout and the usual on the Lemon tree road but as there are no laws on this in Spain it's part of it. You'll see them wherever you go, just more prevalent in some areas.

At the main road access to La Siesta there is a little cluster of useful businesses - Sabadell bank with ATM as well as staffed inside;  two estate agents, one of which does car hire; a car sales outlet;  several cafes and restaurants.

We live at the top end of La Siesta so have managed to avoid the flooding that occurs now and then at the bottom end, ie towards the pink lagoon.  If looking at properties you really must consider this.  Floods are a rare occurrence but plenty of people suffered during the last year, and on more than one occasion.  Being near the top end (Calle Liszt for example), the floodwaters just flowed past us without even encroaching on the front patio.

There are a couple of excellent mini supermarkets - the Washington one is nearest to us, where there is also a good charity shop run by a horse charity.  As others will tell you, there is plenty going on around this large urbanisation, but not necessarily within easy walking distance.  We have bikes and find it easy, but it depends how mobile you are obviously.
