For years 2 and 3 of the Spanish Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV), a single applicant must demonstrate a total financial capacity of at least €57,600. This covers both years, as the first renewal grants a two-year residency permit. For each additional dependent, you must add €14,400 to the total.
These figures are calculated based on 400% of the Spanish Public Income Index (IPREM), which for 2026 sits at €7,200 per year (or €600 per month) for the main applicant, and 100% of IPREM (€7,200) per year for each dependent. SpanishLanguage Course

Thank you.
So when I finally have all the paperwork ready and visit the Consulate how much is acceptable to them for the first year for a single person?
€28.800 for the first applicant amd €7,200 for additional dependents. That's for the first year.
For the next two years you need to double that at it's the same amount per year. Annual guaranteed income, such as pensions etc, can be doubled as they assume you will continue to be paid that. Interest and other non active income will only be added for one year as you can't guarantee you will get it each year but savings to make it up to that amount will be accepted. That also happens at the end of year 3 to cover you for years 4 and 5 so just ensure your savings remain in place.
BLS Spain Visas are responsible for processing all visas. If you look at their website they will explain exactly what is needed for whatever visa is applied for including the NLV one. They will also tell you what consulate in UK will be handle the application.

And this is the important part. The rules have just changed and funds need to be pretty much instantly accessible.
This is a blow for me, because most of my assets are in my SIPP. But it takes a while to withdraw, hence I don't think it would qualify.
Plus, obviously, the numbers can go up or down.
Fortunately, I haven't reached retirement age just yet and am moving money from my SIPP to my ISA for exactly this reason.
My tax limit each year, taxed, but I can claim it all back, as I have no other income.
