Hello' to everyone. i'm going under the process of asking the residence in Spain, in Torrevieja. At the moment I have completed the first step, making yesterday the " impadronamiento". Now I have to complete the second step, going to the police office to ask for residency card. After have read the precious Jim guide on the topic, I still have some doubts, especially on the health care insurance to provide, because I don't know how it functions here. I have an european insurance card that expires in the beginning of the august and I don't know if it is enough or I need to produce another insurance here before and how to do it. Every help on this subject will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

If you are under State Pension age you will need Private Health Insurance when applying for Residencia, I would recommend that you speak to Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurances, he is very helpful, professional and will take you through all the options, they advertise on the Forum or use the link below.

If you are over State Pension age contact DWP in Newcastle and speak to their Overseas Section to obtain your S1 Form to enable you to register in the Spanish Healthcare System.

You can't just turn up at the police station, you need an appointment and currently those are anything from very difficult to impossible to get.
Think many weeks if not months delay so make very sure when you do go that you have everything in perfect order!

Also if you don't speak Spanish you will need an interpreter at most places, Our solicitor filled in all the forms and double checked everything so we did not have any problems if the slightest thing is wrong you will be refused.

Yes I know that I need an appointment and luckily I speak spanish. I didn't know how much time I has to wait to have an appointment...maybe the best thing is to ask a solicitor to take it for me. More or less how much they charge to take care of the process ?

I am italian, european citizen indeed. But what that change in the time to wait ?
"It makes a big difference to the advice given, and to the accessibility of a residencia appointment."
Also interested in the justification for that assertion.
Are you saying that because of Brexit it's only Brits who are experiencing problems with appointments and for other EU nationals it's business as usual?
If so do you have evidence to support it?
Ah, the wonderful word 'should'!
I'll take that to mean you have no evidence that delay wise in a residency application an Italian national will fare any better than a Brit?
Perhaps someone who's recently applied for an appointment can tell us if questions are asked about country of origin as that's the only way other EU nationals would be able to jump the queue.
