Good morning. Been to Hacienda in Alicante to get some documents stamped. Two different offices there have told me I'm not resident due to having TIE. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Do you live in Spain permanently and have an NIE and TIE with your photo on it?

If you do have the TIE then I can't really understand what they mean 😕

Hi Steve

Been permanent resident for 11 years before we changed to TIE. Have lived in Spain continously. We are taxed as residents!

Hi Christine,

I really can't understand what they mean by saying you are not resident when you obviously are.....

Perhaps another trip to Hacienda and see a different person might help or ask a Gestor to help get your documents stamped.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks Steve. We have been 3 times. We have just instructed a tax specialist (they are tax forms we need stamping).

Thanks for your help.

Hopefully will get it sorted.

Just a thought but is your TIE card marked as "temporary"? Sometimes exchanging your old residency documents don't reflect that you may have been resident for many years and a temporary TIE card is issued. Are you registered for Spanish income tax? This is something that doesn't happen automatically.

BTW possession of the TIE indicates that you are Spanish resident. TBH I'm really struggling with this statement  "Two different offices there have told me I'm not resident due to having TIE". Perhaps there's some confusion regarding tax residency?

Thanks for your reply. My TIE is dated for 10 years and we pay our taxes here. It has been suggested they are just being difficult.

Hopefully I can get it sorted.
