Hello, if as suggested in a recent post that residencia is required to add your name to the padrón then does this mean that those people who have holiday homes and spend less than 3 months in spacannot now own a car? As a padrón is required to pay the taxes on a vehicle. Regards.

The Padron is not required when you buy a car in Spain. We bought our car through Auto Roig, just off the N332 near the Cabo Roig roundabout, where James looked after all the legal requirements of change of ownership, gave the car a full service and a new ITV ( MOT ), warranty and helped with arranging insurance. All that required from us was ( obviously ) the payment, photocopy of passport taken, NIE Number and copy of Utility Bill with our address on it.

Further to my previous post.

We only needed a Utility Bill with our address on it because apparently older NIE Certificates had your address on them but ours is a newer one that does not have the address on it.
