EU citizens will not require an ETIAS  visa Some 60 non EU countries are also to be exempt  if the EU does decide to introduce it in 2023 so how will it be useful to Spain?  At the moment all arrivals by air and sea are recorded so that information is already available.  What ...

...about all the other EU countries on mainland Europe who can come and go to Spain how will Spain watch them.  Like I say scaremongering.

Whether you consider the future enforcement of laws scaremongering or not doesn't change the fact that those laws exist. The OP asked for correct information, the correct information and appropriate links have been provided by myself and others. Also stated was that Irish citizens are exempt from ETIAS visas.

DaveBev1 this is what you wrote which I found very offensive to Irish people as I am still wondering what your motive was for singling out Irish people in particular. I am glad you now acknowledge your information was incorrect as ETIAS does not apply to EU citizens.

"Yes, people have got away with overstaying, in some cases overstaying for long periods of time too, but that didn't make it legal.  ETIAS comes into force next year and will catch out Irish overstayers"

The OP is Irish so the info relates to OP. Not singling the Irish out, just answering the Busby's question.
