Hi Beni,

As nationals of an EU member state, the frequency for renewal is 5 years.  However, assuming you're a UK citizen, now that we're no longer members of the EU, you have to renew your padron every 2 years.  Many of the bureaucratic procedures in Spain require your padron certificate to be no older than 3 months, so you may need to update it for something specific.

The law therefore requires non-Spanish residents to periodically renew their registration and, if they don't do so, they are removed from the register.  Despite it being illegal to be on the padron if you do not have residency, many Town Halls have encouraged non-residents to do so, as the Town Halls can gain more funding from central government.  However, Torrevieja is one of the areas, along with Denia, where we know of examples when non-residents have been removed from the padron.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you Kim, it's just that you hear different answers. So, I think I should be ok now. I have my Padron, NIE & Residency Cert. I'm from Ireland & have voted in the last Local Elections.

So again, thank you Kim.

Beni.

Hi Brendan, to add to what Kim has said, you will be advised by the town hall when it's time to renew your padrón. When you do so, it's worth checking that they automatically keep you on the electoral register. Orihuela don't require you to renew your entry on the electoral register, but I don't know if all town halls are the same or not.

Hi Jim, thanks for that, every little helps, especially here in Spain. Even to wake-up in the morning & to see sunshine & blue sky is so welcoming. which I have noticed that it must have been dark when you arose this morning ( Middle of the night really) Lol. I was thinking, were you up to see one of the "Starlink Trains"?

Again, thank you Jim.

Beni
