Thank you both Jim and Kimmy.  I've noticed that you both give so much to this forum. Always delving in to the nitty gritty and posting the salient info. Wouldn't be the same without either of you😊

Hi Jack,

It depends whether you hold a UK passport or EU, e.g. Irish?  If you can tell me that, I can give you the correct answer for your circumstances.

Kind regards,

Kim

But entering Spain I always use my Irish Passport as I get through customs a lot faster!

Hi Jack,

That's great - having an Irish passport means you are not affected by Brexit, so it's a much easier route for you to claim residency in Spain.

You will need around €9,000 in income or savings, and as you are not yet entitled to the State Retirement Pension, you will also need Private Health Insurance, paid in full for the year.  When you move to Spain, you have 90 days to apply for the "Certificado de Registro" green card, often referred to as "residency", which you can do at your local Extranjero (Foreigner) office, or Policia Nacional office.

Do you already have an NIE (foreigner's tax ID number)?  If not, you will need to apply for that first.

If you speak Spanish, you can do both these things easily for yourself.  If not, ask for recommendations for a gestor in your area - I'd suggest starting a new thread for that, as this thread is more than a year old.

Kind regards,

Kim

I own my own property worth about  25,000 euros and have at present 11,500 euros in my Spanish bank account, which will be incrased to around 30 to 40,000 in the next 2yrs by the time I retire on my 66th birthday, then I will have the state UK Pension of around £200 with the increases each year, plus another pension of around 50euros a week so I assume I should be ok finically to live in Spain
