Been coming to Torrevieja nearly 2 decades before eventually buying there. Well used to most things including the Lookie Lookies. They seem to be scarce now but other African gentlemen seem to be busy selling drugs there now. My wife & I along with our son in late 20’s, his partner and baby were walking along beachfront couple weeks ago. These guys were there covering most of the beach from Hombre Del Mar up along Playa del Cura. While not bothering us older folks they pestered our lad with an extensive menu of drugs. The followed him to the point where we had to tell them to F**k off. They were very blatant and there were plenty of them on the benches and at the corners covering every approach. It was a quiet January Saturday afternoon. In the time we were there between walking & eating a couple of hours passed but we never saw a policeman/woman in that time. It’s a pity for such a nice place. Had previously seen police run the Lookie Lookies out of there a few times over the years but they seem very scarce on the ground now.

That's a downside of living in a tourist area I'm afraid.

As for the lack of a police presence, they wouldn't patrol much in the low season when there aren't many peole around. Best to go to the Guardia Civil station and report it. Once they know about it they will increase their patrols.

I agree with Ray on this,it is not limited to Torrevieja as I am sure it is happening on the streets and in the bars and clubs up and down the Costas. The Police presence is reduced at this time of year but they would want to be informed of any activity that concerns you and they will take action.

I’d be fairly sure the Police know about them already as there’s a lot of them hanging around there and they were there on other days too. There’s plenty of CCTV around there too so it won’t be any secret. I’d seen police there 5/6 years ago work the batons on a Lookie Lookie’s backside when he didn’t clear off quickly enough. He left a trail of priceless watches on the ground as he departed. The dealers had plenty of spotters though so catching them wouldn’t be easy. The waiter in the seafront restaurant said they’ve become very blatant. I doubt the guy who approached my lad had anything on him personally but wouldn’t have taken long to get some. Visible patrolling may lessen it to a degree.

Please be careful if you do report them and are seen doing this. They are ruthless and will think nothing of following you! They are low lifes. Nicola.

Alas,  a poblem in just about every part of the UK and Ireland too, such is the cheapness of coke an pills .  Spain will be no different as there is a market that has been suitably growing since the 90s.
