Hi,

Can anyone advise me when the rubbish tax bills are issued ?I received notification from our lawyer last August that payment was due and the bill shows a period of 25/7/18 to 5/10/18. The bill was paid and a direct debit was to have been set up and I was advised that the payment was twice yearly.

On our last visit at the beginning of June I received a letter headed "Third attempt mailbox" and realised by the amount on it that this was a final demand for our rubbish tax. I have no recollection of receiving any other requests for payment and stupidly on my part assumed the bank had set up the direct debit as they had advised me they would do.

The period on this bill is 1/3/19 to 6/5/19. I paid the bill and the clerk in the bank showed me how to set up a direct debit.

My question is: if the bills are due twice yearly, when is the next bill due as the dates on the two bills I have do not make any sense to me?

Can you also advise when the bills for the IBI are due as I am now paranoid about missing bill payments?(This will be our 1st liability for this bill as we did not own the house on January 1st 2018)

Our lawyer has POA and I was under the impression that they would set up direct debits for all necessary payments due but this does not appear to be the case.I have tried on 3 separate occasions to contact them without any response. Will obviously have to pay them a visit when we are next out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ray, that depends on who collects the basura payments. Where I live they're included in the quarterly water bills from Hidraqua. I don't know how they're managed in Torrevieja.

I'd just add that this is yet another good reason for registering for online access to the various utility companies.

Yes each town appears to have different methods!!  Perhaps with everything?

In Alicante City,  Suma office would not “deal” with our payment or set up direct debit.

Town hall set up the direct debit for 2020 payment only.   Could not set up direct debit for 2019 they told us.  But gave us a document to scan into a machine there at Town Hall that accepted cash or card.

Our basura bill is also collected quarterly and included within the water bill.

Linda, that visit to your Lawyer, whose job it will have been to have sorted this, is the way to go.

Please update on here to let others know the result.

Good luck !

LeckyLes.
