Glad you managed to find the office. May I ask what information / paperwork you had to provide.

We have had our motorhome matriculated (here since last year) but we cannot get a straight answer to what customs in Alicante require.

All the best.

Iggy

Morning Igup,

First question, can you speak Spanish 😀 If not apart from the Vehicle details Translation €78, ITV €103 and Suma road tax €129, which were straight forward and easy, everywhere else I went they just kept telling me that I was in the wrong place so I see why people take the easy option. Next step Agencia Tributaria Alicante, which is like import tax, mine was €67 and the last place is Trafico Alicante €97.80. Then you get your Spanish plates. I have my appointment at Trafico today so I’ll update later. Bob 😀👍

Morning Iggy, If you have proof it was in Spain and depending on age you don’t pay Eva, import tax to you and me. Customs are by the marina in Alicante but I had proof so I didn’t need to go there.

By the way, is the entrance door on the left for UK roads?.

Your ferry ticket is proof so you don’t need to go to customs. 1st job is to make it Spanish legal, lights, fog and reverse, go to ITV Torreveija and ask about your entrance door being legal. Then go to  the small building opposite side of the road. €78 and they will translate your log book. Book your van in for ITV. Then if it passes you know it’s worth carrying on. 😷👍🇪🇸

Thanks for that. As I say we have been matriculated so all is good, the only debate has been round whether we need to pay customs and if so what proof they needed.

We should hire you instead of the folks we have been using. Thanks again for your time and useful information. Just one question see you did pay import tax €67 so now my little brain confused between import / customs?

Evening Iggy, I said import tax because it’s easier to understand, you pay 4.75 percent of the value, so if your van is valued at 20k you would pay €950. The interesting part is the valuation, they punch in your vehicle details and out pops a price, mine came to €1,383.02. Don’t ask me where this magic number comes from because it nowhere near the value 😂 but at €65.69, no way I was going to argue. The two places you go are near the train station and Court Engles. We made an appointment for 10.30am for one and 11.38 for Trafico, about 20 minutes each. You need ITV 3 copies, Padron, suma, passport, NIE,  log book and proof that the vehicle was here before January. If I had a penny for all the people who told me you can’t do it because ITV was February or you should have done it last year, I could have upgraded to a Bentley. 😀😷👍

Hi Bob,

We are still trying to get things progressed.

2 questions if i may.

1) Did you get matriculated last year? Our guy is saying that it was easier for those that started the process then.

2) And we have been asked do you know the name of the customs agent you dealt with?

Thanks. iggy
