Hi, How do I go about paying non resident tax and council tax, is it possible to do all on line? Because of the ongoing problems I have had since purchasing my little bungalow I totally forgot about this , so any help would be gratefully received, thank you.

It does depend if you want peace of mind knowing its done for you or to do it yourself each year.

The Abagado/Solicitor/Lawyer who did your conveyance , if they were efficient, should have told you about this and possibly offered you an annual price to do it for you each year. That takes all the worry away .

We use our Abagado who did our house sale years ago and they sort all tax payments for us including Suma (council tax) . They are also on hand to sort out any problems we may have for anything else.

Look at www.abacoadvisers.com

There's lots of info on there .

There is also information on this forum on how to do it yourself.

Check with your Council (Ayuntamiento Dept. "Tributos") as soon as possible. Late fees and demurrages can be considerable. Sign a direct debit order.

Hi, thank you, but not back over till April at the earliest, have messaged my solicitor twice now, it’s been a bit of a nightmare from the go, and just getting a bit overwhelmed with all of this at the moment, haven’t been the luckiest person so far concerning estate agents and solicitor ( this is the second solicitor as the first one didn’t get do a thing to help move the sale along) really think I might have made a huge mistake buying at the moment, hopefully it will all get sorted out , it’s just difficult when your not in the same country.

Hello Karol, so sorry to hear your news but you are not alone. We moved over, lock, stock and barrel in June 2017 on advice from our estate agent and the sale didnt finalise until end November´but we were lucky that we moved in after 2 weeks on a rent to buy arrangement even though that meant having to live with all the previous owner´s furniture on top of our own. By furniture, I mean down to half used toothpaste, toddlers drawings....you get the picture. We´ve been misled and outright lied to many times.
We finally found Uma at getlegalinspain.com who sorted us out with everything else that needed doing. Her prices I found to be very reasonable, she is a lovely Spanish lady who speaks perfect English and she can sort all this out for you and she is based in Torrevieja.
Do we think we made a mistake? No. It is beautiful, the Spanish are, in the main, so friendly and helpful but it takes time, things are different and the unknown is always more worrying.
Get someone like Uma to help you get all the legalities sorted so you can start to enjoy this wonderful country.

I used this company following Jim’s advice and they were brilliant-I literally did it all by email two days before closing date of New Year’s Eve and it was all sorted-would definitely recommend. In relation to your suma I had to get copy bill and called to office -girl there was so helpful and ensured everything sorted to pay by direct debit. It can seem overwhelming but once you sort these things once that’s the hard work done!

Hi , I finalised at the end of August, I’m not usually this dense, ( blaming underactive thyroid and brain fog 🙄) and normally this would be a breeze, but the more the problems crop up the more overwhelming it seems. Thank you for your reply 👍
