You are lucky to be in the best place to get the Alicante airport bus straight to and from Torrevieja every hour.

Also the licensed airport taxis lined up outside airport arriivals will take you to Torrevieja  for about 50 euros and there are loads of taxis to take you back to the airport from Torrevieja. One thing Torrevieja is not short of is Taxis...Wish all the other local areas had such a good service!

I'm sorry but 50 euros would NOT get you to Torrevieja from Alicante airport - I live in Toretta Florida and when I use Airport Taxi's the fare is circa 65-70euros and I am a few miles inland from the Marina!!!!! The fares are creeping up every time I visit and the meters are usually sitting at 4-5euros before you've even left the Taxi rank!

Oh and there is no Airport bus between 14.00 and 16.00 according to the recent timetable - God only knows why because it then results in a bun fight to get on the later bus when there's 2-3 plane loads of passengers waiting to board!

20kiki is right, as we flew in yesterday and asked for costs for taxi to Torrevieja - was quoted 65 euros by a few different taxis

That's funny as it's €50 for me to Quesada and that's 10 minutes inland from Guardamar so 10 minutes from Guardamar is Torrevieja so I thought it would be about the same and can't see why not? Must be Summer prices!

I often get  a cheaper licenced airport taxi by booking in advance with the taxis I know and asking the price first. I'm sure if they get to know you they will do a deal as they then guess you may use them again.

Hi thank you for giving me an insight of taxi prices much appreciated. We have just bought a bungalow on Torrent 111 as a holidsy home and would be wanting to get in with a taxi firm that will do us a cheaper deal as we will use them a lot throughout the year as we have a family who will also be queuing up to grab a week or more there too.

Can you send me the taxi number who you have recommended please.

We use QuesadaTaxi as we are in Quesada. All registered licensed Taxis have their own areas that they have to keep in, although they can take you to any area and they can all do the taking to and from the airports.

The taxi we use is www.quesadataxi.com there are a number of drivers with this company and they are very reliable and modern thinking and can be contacted by email, telephone and text. They also speak reasonable English. However as I said they can only pick up in their area , in this case Quesada or Rojales but they can take to any other area.

Most good taxis will arrange for a another taxi to collect from out of their area to bring back or they will generally give contact details.

There are obviously other taxis in Torrevieja and their numbers can be obtained by asking at the taxi ranks and chatting to the drivers - They should give you a card with their number on.

I see that the original poster uses the word "private".

It is important to bear in mind that the police are currently having a purge on unlicensed 'taxis', with particular focus on those doing airport runs. If a vehicle is stopped and found to be unlicensed, not only is the driver fined and the vehicle confiscated, but the passengers are fined heavily too.

Also, of course, the passengers would have no recourse to insurance in the event of an accident, if the vehicle is unlicensed.
