Bespoke birding tours in the province of Alicante.
Take in the sights and sounds of this lovely, bird rich area on the Mediterranean coast with a guided tour concentrating on its stunning bird fauna but also its other wildlife, a splattering of local history and it’s rich culture. All from the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle.
Itineraries will vary according to weather conditions, the time of year and target species wanted. Please note that nature has a habit of being unpredictable so I can not guarantee sightings of all species but I will endeavour to make your trip as memorable as possible. With that in mind, we will visit as many different habitats as time dictates and try to build a good day list. Some of the sites we visit include the famous El Hondo, the Laguna Salada de la Mata and the Salinas de Santa Pola. These sites hold internationally important numbers of a wide variety of birds such as the threatened Marbled and White-headed Duck. The whole area is justifiably well renowned for its population of Greater Flamingo which are a welcomed sight on many of the province’s salt pans. There are also very good populations of waders, herons, gulls and birds of prey. This part of Valencia is excellent all year round as there is always something to see with the added attraction of almost anything turning up during migration times. We will also visit other less well known sites to pick up bonus species like Azure-winged Magpie and a chance of an Eagle Owl.
Refreshments (cold canned drinks and water) are included, however, please bring a packed lunch with you as we will be maximising our time finding birds.
Tours are usually run during the working week depending on numbers. Pickups are generally from Torrevieja and it’s surrounding suburbs but it is possible to arrange a pickup from your accommodation depending on your location.
