How do you deal with calcification in the bathroom and kitchen faucets? I bought some anti scaling powder for small appliances at carrefour and that works. But, we can hardly move the bathroom tap and the kitchen tap sprays all over the place. My husband removed the washer and has it soaking in a solution overnight and I'm wondering if it will work or should we just buy a new washer-thingy? As you can tell this is all new to us and we aren't all that handy. He's going to try to fix the bathroom tap too. Maybe we need a plumber?

Most probably yes. I have to replace taps every 6-8 years, the only way to solve the problem.

Hello again Bmor🌞

Hope you get lots of washing done when the weather clears up.   Yes above post is right, may need to get new fittings fairly regularly.  Use “Calgon” products in washing machine etc..

We have similar problem with water in Alicante.  Perhaps all of Spain.  We were having trouble with a shower and got the plumber.   Seems two problems.

Calcium (Lime) and Copper deposits wreck the water pipes, taps, machines.  Various reasons for this but result is greenish lime clogging up anything the water touches.   Worse especially when water pipes are not used for long periods.

We got a permanent water filter for drinking water.   The plumber also cleaned out the whole system.  We feel that was worth doing and realise we may have to keep repeating this process.

Hope this helps

I am no plumber. Apart from the shower, in 19 years, never changed taps. (Washers yes).Agua fuerte (cheap) keeps the cal at bay. Use sparingly! V

You could install a water filter on the main incoming water supply, but, this will not be a cheap solution overall... but neither will changing all your plumbing accessories and possibly pipework also in time!

The issue is that once installed, ALL your water is now being filtered. This means you will literally be flushing filtered water down the toilet at times!

You will also need to get on top of all your outlets and preferably have a system flush at the same time. IF you have a typical water heater, I can guarantee that this will be problematic sometime also, if not already.

There is no cheap solution to this, your choices are more budgetary V your own time, ability and desire

Hope it helps
