Hello. This will be my first winter in Spain. At the moment our only means of heating would be the air conditioning system. I'm guessing this could work out very expensive. Does anyone have tips for a cheaper way to heat our apartment? A single heater, strategically placed, I'm sure could heat the whole apartment. Thank you for any help and advice.

AC system heating is one of the most efficient methods of heating and the latest models can produce around 3 times as much heat output as input. (You've probably noticed that the outside of your apartment is warmer than the inside in winter) Whereas an electric heater provides 1 KW of heating for every 1 KW of input.

Ours are pretty old (>10 years) but still fairly efficient and not yet worth the cost to replace. We'll probably buy new ones when the old ones stop working.

Hi.

After living here for 8 years,we have tried everything

This year we are opting for night storage heaters,in fact the company are calling tomorrow.

According to the size of the heater, they start at 500€ to 900€.

This price includes fitting,delivery,and vat.

Not bad at all.

Have only had good reports about them.

Hello

I, too  have one Panasonic Converter unit for A/C & heating in my apt. & dont find it too expensive at all. Its in the lounge/kitchen area almost opposite bedroom/bathroom doors so I just open them if I need to reduce the chill in those rooms & the lounge area is cozy  on a medium heat.

Instant heat at the press of a remote button suits me.

Cheers

Huh?

I know many Spanish properties are insulated virtually in name only but warmer out than in, how does that work then?

We have a roof solarium and a couple of balconies and the temperature on these during the day in winter is warmer than the apartment. The apartment does have insulation but never feels warm due to being in the shade.

I can't be the only person to notice this in winter? https://www.thelocal.es/20211104/why-are-spanish-homes-so-cold/

We don't particularly like heating in the bedrooms so that's not a problem. We use a 3 bar calor gas fire in the living room during the evening and as our house frontage faces westwards over towards the salt lake we do get the sun between 10am and sunset. We also have a dual aircon unit which we sometimes have used but the gas is fine apart from a little condensation if the windows aren't slightly open. With gas @ 22 euros a bottle and pay as you go we have found it the best way... all the best ....

Hello

No you're not. I have a south facing apt, with a patio & garden, in a corner space & free from breezes etc  It's an oven in the summer but often warm in the colder months.

I have a small weather station  in my apt.that gives me inside/.outside temps which prove that , some days it is often warmer outside than in!

Cheers
