Good morning. We’re looking for some recommendations, based on members’ experiences.

We’re shortly moving to a 30yr old villa in Los Balcones, that has a decent south facing rear roof, that would be ideal for installing solar panels - especIally one with a water tank, plus some to supplement our mains electricity.

There are now so many providers advertising, that we don’t know where to start in choosing one. I’m hoping someone on the forum may have some recommendations or advice that would help us please. Thank you in advance.

We have solar and it has made a massive difference to our electric bill. We have 8 x 400 watt panels on a south facing roof. I can't recommend the company we had. The equipment is brilliant but the company is not. Our friends had a company called something like NRG Solar

I'd sent a cost estimate request to about 7 companies, only 3 actually replied - Iberdrola Smart Solar, IKEA Solar and Simply Solar. IKEA does remote viewing (via Microsoft Teams). Iberdrola representative came in person and was very helpful. They are also a tad cheaper than IKEA. I am expecting Simply Solar on Monday.
Generally, I am inclined to go with Iberdrola since from my perspective, they were trying to come up with good solutions for my particular problems and questions.

That’s very helpful, thank you. And thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your experience.

Iberdrola are very expensive. Our friends paid around €5000 for 8 x 400 watt panels. I can get the details if you want. I have 3 friends who used the same company and they are very pleased

Yes please, if you wouldn’t mind. That would be great. Thank you very much.

So Simply Solar never even showed up. No email, no phone call. Based on this, I cannot recommend them.

I would be quite careful when you see a deal too good to be true (5k EUR for 3,2kWp). Always ask for warranty information and for a technical sheet and do your own due diligence. I'm sure you don't want to have to replace the whole setup in 10 years.

My friends had Solar NRG. 966941849 [email protected]. Tell them Mr and Mrs Cunningham recommended
