Hi Everyone, I'm getting really fedup now with my electrics as they keep tripping out and I don't seem to have a lot of stuff plugged in.  I'm trying to call Iberswitch but can't get through on the number on the website. I've also completed a form on line but not heard from them.   Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm located in the centre of Torrevieja.  Mel

I don't know what supplier you are with, but I include the procedure here:

Jim's Guide - Iberdrola Part 1 - Bills & contracted power

I'm not surprised you're having problems contacting Iberswitch, as I've yet to hear anything good about them. My impression so far is that, if you take their fees into consideration, you're unlikely to make a saving.

Hi Mel.i'm sorry to hear you are having those problems with your Electrics.

You do say they trip out when you are not using a great amount of Electrical appliances. Can you describe exactly what trips out. Is it a switch in your fusebox , and if so which one, or is it your your meter itself that trips out and has to be reset ?

Hi ya, it seems to happen at night when we have heater on and then someone goes in the kitchen using kettle, microwave etc. Sometimes the main fuse cuts and other times just partly cuts off. I've had Iberswitch confirm I haven't got a certificate for higher electricity usage so will need an authorised electrician to upgrade me now. I just need to arrange it now

We use Iberswitch, and if I were going to upgrade the potential of my supply I wouldn’t involve them in the process at all.

You will be getting monthly or bimonthly bills from your actual supplier, an it is them that I’d talk to initially.

I have a feeling that because Iberdrola are the equivalent of the National Grid, that it’s them who own the actual supply hardware and meter - but I may be wrong. If I’m right then I think it may be Iberdrola who need to see the electrical certificate before they upgrade the supply potential.

Pete.

I pay my electricity bill to Fernie via Iberswitch so who should I go to?

Contact Fenie Energie directly and ask them what the process is for increasing your potential.

Thanks I will - probably now have to do this when we're out again next month as we're going back to UK next week

I would ask the question now, then you know what the process is, and if you need to involve either Iberdrola or Iberswitch.

I have the same problem - it's infuriating - I actually arranged an upgrade thru' Iberdrolla from 3.5KW to 5KW last year, cost me 60euros and honestly there was absulutaly no difference whatsoever! - Plus I landed up paying twice as much on their tarriffs so cancelled it after 2months....with no refund of course!

It may depend on what Tarriff you are on - I opted for cheap evening electricity so perhaps they reduce the supply in the evenings?

I read somewhere last year that the whole of Torrevieja residents were to be upgraded to 5KW but as yet heard nothing more - I have travelled all over the world and only now realise what poor electricity Southern Spain has!
