It is always best to buy prescription glasses from an optician. If your prescription is straightforward then Specsavers at the back of the Habaneras shopping centre are good value but if your prescription is complicated then cheap over the counter glasses can do more harm than good.

Hi

As Villas said, reading glasses are readily available.

My eyes are different to each other, so in the past I have tried cheap glasses out for each eye, and bought two different pairs at 4 euros each, then popped out two of the lenses and swapped them such that I ended up with glasses that were correct for both eyes, simples!

Cheers

Steve

Agree, I would not for a second consider buying glasses from anywhere other than opticians I care too much about my sight.

I went to Specsavers last week for my sight check, I wear, and have done for several years , off the peg cheap +3 readers.  The optometrist told me Iā€™m ok to keep on with them.

The point is that weā€™re talking reading glasses, which by their very nature we only wear for short periods of time. I usually read using my iPad, so make sure I have frequent breaks from looking at the screen, spending a few minutes not concentrating on anything close.

Id no more use off the peg lenses if I were using them for long periods than Iā€™d fly to the moon and I think itā€™s important that we acknowledge the difference.

Steve, I think your solution is brilliant

The important thing here is that you went to an optician, had a sight test and were given the go-ahead.

Reading glasses.

My husband only requires glasses for reading. The number of spectacles he has lost or broken is far too many to remember!

We came armed with 3/4 pairs of forces from the pound shop at home. One after the other broke and he was left in need of another pair

Ale Hop on the sea front going towards  Plata del  Cura ā‚¬5. Still wearing them. Good looking and decent quality   Definitely recommend them.
