In addition to the advice John has provided, you could also try the likes of Leroy Merlin and see if they have any damaged lengths they will sell off cheap or, sometimes, they have lengths in their 'bargain bin'
It is a shame you are so far from me, I have a kitchen removal and install later this week, there would likely be an off cut or piece of the removed worktop that you could make use of.
