This is not a post that I am particularly proud of making, as have just about given up trying to give up smoking due to too many previous failed attempts.

If anyone feels they are able to recommend a hypnotherapist here in Costa Blanca, then I would be keen to give that ANOTHER go at that.

I’m sure that I read something a while ago on this forum about menthol cigarettes, which became obsolete here in Spain on May 20th 2020.

Just thought that I would pass on to anyone interested that after trying lots of different brands since May 20th, the man at the tobacconist in Cala Finestrat suggested I tried “Sterling Dual” (blue and green Sterling logo)

They seem to be the nearest thing I can find to menthol, for some ironic reason I do not like the taste of tobacco anymore.

I previously smoked Berkeley menthol in UK, couldn’t get them here so switched to Richmond menthol.

Please don’t beat me up for my disgusting habit, I already know.

I hope someone out there may find this useful.

Hi Paddy H

Have you tried the E cigarettes they apparently come in all flavours including menthol, you would save money and they would give you the nicotine fix without the tar.

My brother uses these and says that he hasn't given up cigarettes only tobacco.

May be worth a try

Good luck

Vivienne

From another disgusting person, and the one who started the thread about menthol cigs dying, I did stock up in advance of M day. They have now all turned to ashes.

For a full week now and, for personal reasons, a very stressful one, I've avoided going to the tabac. Instead I'm using an old style ecig where I have to drip juice into it, and a new one which I may not be able to get used to.

I console myself that I can buy any number of different ecigs to try, and that will still be cheaper than what I used to spend on fags.

It would certainly be nice to find a good hypnotist. It's a subject I've always been interested in, to the extent that I once took part in a Channel 4 series on the subject, but there are more bad ones than good ones. I once tried one in Lancashire to stop smoking, and lit up a fag in the car on my way home.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Both me & hubby were heavy smokers hubby 60+ per day me 40+ per day we gave up using the Paul McKenna DVD, that was 19 years ago and we have not had a cigarette since.

I admit to being dubious about it when we got the DVD, but it worked for us, I think we all have to be in the mindset to want to give up. My driver was lying in bed and thinking what's that noise? and realised it was me wheezing like an asthmatic pit pony.

It was one of the hardest things either of us has done. Even after all these years I still miss a cigarette with a coffee and brandy, for me the holy trinity!!.

Wow - I salute you both!

Totally understand what you mean by the holy trinity 😁

Thanks for your inspiration

Many thanks for your reply.

So sorry to hear that you have had a stressful week.

I’m thinking that maybe I should have another go with something like you are doing.

Your comment about lighting up after a stopping smoking session is EXACTLY what I did and made me laugh 😂 😂

Friends of mine were distraught at the news, as they only smoke menthol cigarettes. However, I their local tabac, they found a king size cigarette with a gap at the top for a specially designed menthol tip. They are delighted and say that, not only does it taste better than their old brand of menthol, but it’s cheaper and king size. Sorry, I don’t have the brand name, and I don’t know if all tabacos sell the same things, as I am not a smoker .. but these things are out there!
