We have the money in our account to pay for a apartment,but the bank require 700 euros to transfer? does anyone know ways round this please

Hi Ray thank you for getting back so quick,We have transferred money into Caixa bank ready for apartment and they are telling us we have to pay 700 euros more to send to solicitor can you advise

When you opened the account you will have signed a contract with the bank. Apparently you didn't read the smallprint. I would strongly recommend to read that in detail, and most probably will find the answer to this and other questions you may have. Good luck.

Hi Ray thats what we thought 0.3% its a little more than that.
We are in England now but have rang them and emailed them.The money is foe transferring the money nightmare

Hi our covayancer had power of attorney and withdrew a cheque drom Sabodel dor the purchase. It cost 300€ . Could you draw a cheque instead? Alternatively could your UK bank supply a cheque in euro? It all depends on how quickly you nees to get the funds over

My question is not completely on point but does involve Caixa Bank. I am an American seeking a non lucrative residency in Spain. I also bank at Caixa. I noticed that when I wired money into my account, I was charged an amount that varied (even though transfer amounts were the same) simply to accept the wired funds. Is this usual? I have asked the question at the bank but get only vague responses that are generally not helpful.
I know that until I become a resident, I will pay quarterly account maintenance charges, but does anyone who understands banking in Spain know if the fee burden is generally similar or if I can save by using a different bank?

i too am a non resident. i bank with Sabadell. when i used to transfer small amounts (€500-€1,000) into them from my UK Lloyds bank i was charged by Sabadell each time, plus Lloyds exchange rates and fees were poor. i started to use Transferwise instead and their rates are almost as good as commercial exchange rates and their fees are low (less than £5 for €1,000 transfer) plus Sabadell do not charge to receive these transfers into my account. worth checking them out. funds are usually transferred the same day. check them out:
