Hi,  looking for some advice.  We are looking to get broadband installed - what providers do you recommend and is installation easy? We are only across for 2 weeks so hoping to get it in while we are here. Thanks

You don't say what your requirements are, IE do you need higher speeds for your tv or is your system via satellite dish. Would lower speeds suffice if you are only browsing the net and streaming etc ?

2 companies that you could have a look at do turn on/off systems aimed at people with holiday homes.

Tv Horadada/Avatel have an office in La Zenia Boulevard and a friend in the Villamartin area signed up for their fibre optic system as his tv is not from the dish, he tells me the speeds are very fast.

Alternatively you could look at dvblab which is who we are with, we do not have fibre optic in my area of La Florida, we only need a basic system as our tv is sat dish.

Installation is €150 and then €19 per month only paid for when required, we will probably only switch it on over the summer so that will cost me €76.

There is another supplier in Los Dolses, No limits, but their holiday package is €240 per year after installation costs and not turn on/off.

Dvblab have a uk number, suggest a chat with them and if you are happy with what they can provide you could arrange a date for installation as you arrive in Spain, this way you would have full benefit for your 2 week stay.

We have been in Spain for almost 3 weeks now and have received a constant 10mgb download speed which sounds slow by today's standards but it is more than enough for our usage, we have been watching Netflix, YouTube with no problems at all.

Hi camellia987,

Good information from Kenbo, and fom personal experience TV Haradada ( now Avatel), have given good reliable service with ample download speeds.

Have you considered having a word with one or two of your neighbours to gain some information and advice as to who is their Internet Providor and the quality of Service they recieve

LeckyLes.

Thanks so much for your response, it's really helpful.

It is just for browsing / watching Netflix etc so don't need high speeds as it's a satellite dish we have too.

Think dvblab sounds like a good option - thanks again

You are very welcome, one issue that I failed to address in your original question....installation.

What kind of property do you have ? Ours is a downstairs semi detached apartment, dvblab couldn't get a strong enough signal to the dish from our property, the small dish they use has to have a direct line of sight to their access point, luckily for us they had just installed a new one at the bottom of our street BUT the dish has to be sited quite high up to be able to ' see ' their transmitter.

Luckily we have some very nice Belgian people living above us who allowed dvblab to attach the dish to the outside of their solarium wall. This is probably a bit higher than necessary as there are some single story bungalows directly opposite to us who have wifi dishes on their solarium, of course I have no idea what their reception is like or their provider.

Do you think you can get the dish high enough ?

As always PeteKnights advice is spot on, if we had fibre optic in our area this is what we would have done but we haven't hence the dish. Pete may also need fibre for tv purposes but we don't fortunately.
